MUNICH CONCERT REVIEW Tuesday 29th October, 1991 I had been a "moderate" CH fan after the release of DDIO and until "Woodface". That meant I had the albums and listened to them occasionally, but I remember looking at a poster in 1988 announcing the Frankfurt gig and thinking "Well, could be nice, but I think I'll pass...it's 50 miles away, you know" ... When CH came to Munich in 1991, the way was considerably shorter. They played at the "Theaterfabrik" in Unterfoehring, a nice little club which is used for both theatre performances and concerts. I think there were about 400 people present. I arrived a little tired from the trip to Winterthur, and with a little elbow here and there I positioned myself about 7 feet from the stage; not enough to count the hair in anyone's nose ;-) - but close enough to have a whistle in my ear afterwards. The set list was at least similar to the night before; I remember them opening with "Tall Trees" and played "Into Temptation" quite early. They played one song that was totally unfamiliar with; a very beautiful tune with a line sounding vaguely like "..and I don't want to see you cry" Halfway through the set someone who had come all the way from Austria gave Neil a cassette saying he was in a band, and would CH please come to Austria so he could get the support slot. I had to admire him for his courage. He was rewarded instantly: Neil called him upstage and let him sing lead to "It's Only Natural". Another memorable incident was a girl who kept making photos of the guys. The flashlight seemed to irritate the band, so they stopped the song (Whispers) right there, and Nick bent over and demanded she give him the camera. She complied. That was when he pulled her on stage, gave out orders to everyone to get around the drum set, positioned her between Paul and Neil and made a few photos. "Will that be ok now?" BTW, I did not see any sign of tensions between Neil and Tim on this gig. Tim was very "unspectacular" that night. The only thing he actually did was sing his lead on "All I Ask". No indication that he would leave the band right after this set... By BvW (1992)
